Our turbos can easilly boost past 20 psi. Seen then go as high as 25 psi. Running such high doesn't mean the turbos are ready to go. Just means that you are accelerating the remaining life of the turbo. 17-18 psi is considered the stock turbos peak efficiency boost. You wouldn't really be gaining anymore HP if you were to run more boost than that. Using the boost controller to run the same psi doesn't mean anything. Boost controllers regulate boost, that's their job. It doesn't save them any more than running boost jets at the same PSI. Intercoolers help cool the intake charge temp into the engine which allows you to run more boost if you want but the main limiting factor for the stock setup is the injectors. Once you upgrade the injectors (maxxes out at about 15 psi) then the limiting factor in running high boost efficiently becomes the turbos (17-18 psi).
