Just to let everybody know all of this genetic reasearch is not for a purpose of creating a clone of people. The world gets wrapped up in all of this and it's automatically assumed that the people doing the reasearch are interested in exact duplicates of human beings. The purpose of all of this has a valid purpose. Say you get cancer of the liver and it has to be removed. This research will allow you to grow either, within the labratory or within the body, a new one. Doctors will be able to turn off certain predispositions and faults that your genetics might have. Please don't think that all of this research and new information means that they are looking to have a race of clones walking around. Frankly there really no purpose to that. This dosen't mean that eventually the technology could be abused but that will have to be guarded against when we get to that. And more importantly this isn't truly cloning, all it is, is replaceing the nucleus of one cell with the nucleus of a fertilized egg cell. This has been going on for years and is extremely similar to in vitro fertilization. Sorry for the lenth but many times this argument goes into the territory where people do nbot know all of the true facts and the actual purpose becomes distorted.
