First off, I have done a few searches and haven't found any definitive info on this topic (15" drag wheels). I found an offer too good to pass up yesterday on some 27x10x15 Hoosier drag slicks ($40, w/ 75% dot left). The tires appear to be slightly smaller than my street tires (285/35/18s), so I'm pretty sure they'll fit under my fenders (they aren't crinkle sidewalls, BTW). My question is, what would be the ideal size drag wheel to run these with? I'm fairly enamoured by the Weld Magnum Drag Rears, and am thinking that a 15x9 w/ 5" backspace should do the trick. Does this sound right? Or will that be too much backspace (forcing the rim and/or tire into the HICAS godies)?
