Message Lag: Bigger intercoolers of similar style core lag more - no question about it.

Cooling: Both placements are as good from a charge cooling point of view but what a LOT of people forget is the cooling capacity of the motor itself. Whith a FMIC you are killing the cooling capacity of the car. Bigger radiators help but how much ? Fact is what a Z needs is better engine cooling rather than a few additional cfm of flow thru the IC's. Sure it looks cool and everything but its not the best solution for the Z unless you are into drag racing your car only.

Prices: Stillen IC's are $950, the ducts are $175 = 1125 vs most FMIC's which are minimum $1400. However for a given setup concider the fact that you need to relocate your oil cooler and add a bigger radiator and figure out a way to relocate the air intakes will cost you FAR more than the $1400 you are looking at.

Personally if you are not looking for >600rwhp there is no point going with a FMIC. Money would be better spent putting the 500 or so rwhp to the ground. You can run 10's with 500 to 550 rwhp + you will have a more streetable (read faster road car) on the street. Just so you know there are virtually no road race cars that run FMIC's in front of their radiator including the famed IMSA Z or the touring car championship cars.
