I don't see the S2000s being faster on the track. I think they can turn in similar lap times (still marginally slower) as a stock TT, but not beat it, especially on a road course. They are too squirelly at the limit (a limitation of lightweight), really need the living daylights driven out of the and don't have the traction (same problem with Z, the chassis' are capable of more than what the cars are equipped with). On an autox, they are about the same, altho the TT is real hard to drive if you aren't very good. I've noticed a lot of good drivers are just buying the car since it isn't too expensive as a sports car and they are the ones showing good times at SCCA (altho the S2000 does deserve credit as a great autox car). Also, in the Northern CA region, it is a rare thing to see an S2000 with out slicks, I'm sure it is similar elsewhere. It is even rarer to see TTZs represented (let alone any with good drivers or even stock ones). I think the mis-conceptions are due to relative numbers of attendence, false stigmas given to the TTZ, drivers, tires and most importantly skill level. But the S2000 is a great car. Great value for what you get.
