You have to 'know' for peace of mind, or you have to plan on doing it yourself after the purchase, and price should be adjusted down accordingly. I have walked away from several buys on cars when I could not be provided proof of full timing belt service or get the price adjusted at a 'dealership' $ level. On the other hand, I have bought cars for the right price and simply done the service myself immediately after picking it up. good luck!
