It is all just simple physics. Sometimes torque will not win. You need leverage. I used to have to do this all the time trying to break loose lug nuts on 5-ton trucks in the motor-pool. Put a breaker bar with the correct size socket on the nut/bolt. In the case of the exhaust, I believe that they are 17mm. If you can't break it loose with that, then slip a metal pipe or something onto the breakerbar, thereby doublely the length. the more leverage that you have, it will work
