Message but from what I hear, the saving on the proxies is probably worth it. At that level S02s, Pilot Sports, Proxies T1-S, are only mimally different if you aren't going to be pushing the car sideways or be competitive in turns. I'd buy the one with the higher treadwear and smoother ride (read: toyo proxies T1-S, I believe 280treadwear and they are supposed to be smooth riding tires (less noise)) even tho I do like the Pilots.

Just because the Pilots have Michelin stamped on the carcass and are made in France ($$), doesn't mean they are that much better ;). I've since changed mindset to buy reasonable street tires (cheaper) and get dedicated track tires for the race track. But I know you drag so that is different. The Toyos are probably the best bang for the buck! They won't let you down on the street and will outlast the others. For the record, the best all around street tire is probably the S03. The dry grip is the G-Force KD. The stickiest Yoko A032R but has real short life (treadwear 60).
The Pilots are most comfortable and a quality good all around tire (read: name brand), but squeal a lot and are very progressive at the limit (But slightly less than the S02s I had). AVS Sports, are good, but they peak in perf early and then go shitty on you for the second half of their life. The Toyos are a great all around tire, and sound like the best bang for the buck.

If I was you, I'd buy the Toyos. Speedvision was sponsered by them (I know that doesn't mean too much, but its worth something right?)! I believe thats what their touring cars wear in the rain, but don't quote me (I've seen the extra sets of SSR wheels at Laguna Seca with T1-Ss on them).

Good luck,

Salah
