Message I'm not a big fan of the Pentium 4. Don't buy into the marketing hype. Although they have higher clock speeds than AMD, they are still slower in most benchmarks. CPU speed isn't everything. In addition...the P4 was designed for RDRAM, which has much better bandwidth. The system you spec'd has SDRAM which is slow and quickly becoming obsolete, and will hurt the overall performance of your system. Unfortunately, most OEMs use SDRAM because it is much cheaper than RDRAM, and the average dumb consumer doesn't know any better. All they see is the processor speed and assume the system must be fast without researching the other components that support the CPU.

If you don't want to build your own I'd probably go with a Micron...they sell AMD equipped systems. Get a system with DDR SDRAM...which is likely to become the next industry memory standard anyways. It is much faster than SDRAM, and much cheaper than RDRAM.

check this out: Micron PC.

It is a nice well rounded system....but I guess it depends on how much you want to spend. Either way, it is a good idea to do some research first. Keep in mind most people don't need super fast machines anyway unless they play games or do graphics or CAD.
