Message I really wish I had some more experience on a road course... I have been once, but couldn't get on it enough to get any good practice (slow ass C5).
I was in a roundabout tonight, took it fast, but not like edge of control fast, or so I thought. Coming out of it, I hit in 2nd, got sideways, hit the brakes (whoops - reflex) and went sideways the other way, and then again the other way, coming within inches of hitting very wheel damaging curbs. It really caught me off guard because I'm not used to my car having traction problems in the dry - it's this damn cold weather!
I've had the back out quite a few times with my car, but always expecting it, and I ALWAYS just steer out of it, but this time really took me off guard. I really envy you guys who frequently road course it - that's REAL racing! I'd like to get into that more, but I'm not sure of any good places around here to start. The only time I raced on one was a special annual autoX.
Thanks for the responses guys - guess I need to unlearn my reflexes, and make these techniques my insticts.
Oh, and say you're only doing ~20-30mph around a turn and the back comes loose - couldn't just letting of the gas a little straighten you out?
Thanks!
