Message You have exhaust pulses traveling from each bank of the engine alternating with the firing pattern of the cylinders. Two pulses can't bump into eachother as long as the lenth of each side is perfectly equal. The idea is to use the vacuum of one pulse to pull the next one along, the X will theoretically "shuffle" the pulses together allowing them to pull each other along. The flow will not be disrupted by a slight loss of area where the two pipes are joined, it will actually increase. The "H" pipe also achieves this affect but not quite as well since there is not as much of an exchange of pressure from side to side.
Sound good?
