Yep-I was ripped off by regular forum contributor,Vik Saini.
For those who are long time readers and posters on this forum, you'll know who Vik is. I too am a long time member. This story goes back about six months or more. Vik posted an ad stating that he would convert the rear center panel to a lighted one for a fee. He also mentioned that he was open to partial trades. I sent him my red lettered Jspec panel along with a brand new in the box Greddy turbo timer as partial trade, and a check for $100. Now the stories begin. I received an email stating that he was done with the conversion but couldn't find a box to return it in. Then it was the story about an illness in the family and school. I realize that Vik is a college student and school is more important but-he ignored my emails. Then I received an email stating that he couldn't get a hold of me because my emails keep getting returned to him. Bull-I never got any emails from him and I sent him enough emails so that he had my email address. The last email from him was dated 10/4. In it he stated that he will send out my panel the following week. It's now the end of December. I still have not received my rear panel nor any replies. In my last email to him, I asked for my panel, turbo timer and money back. Still no answer. Over the years, I've purchased many things from forum members without ever having any problems. The classifieds are based partially on trust and the reputation of the members to keep it running smoothly. I guess this really tarnishes Vik's reputation with me. I hope this cautionary tale reminds everyone that in order to keep the trust going, one must stand behind his/her words. I know Vik is a regular contributor on this forum so maybe a little pressure from the forum will get him to stand by his word. I just called his cell phone number and got his voice mail. If Vik resolves this problem, I will post a followup and apologize. I feel that I have been more than patient-more so than others would be. Come on Vik, lets get on it.
