Message Stock vs. stock, performance will be down to the driver, however, the Supra will make it easier for the driver. Also consider that stock vs. stock, the Supra is better equipped than the 300ZX (i.e. higher stock boost, wider and better stock tires, etc.).

Toyota "builds" (i.e. design, engineer, etc.) perfect cars while Nissan "builds" driver oriented cars. When I drove a Supra, I felt somewhat detached; the suspension was too soft for me and the riding position was a bit high -- it felt like a luxury car.

Side-by-side, you can clearly tell that the Supra was designed more function-over-form while the 300ZX was designed more form-over-function. The spacious engine bay, the decision to use an I-6, and even the location of the battery forward of the front axle says that the Supra was at least designed for easy maintenance.

Nonetheless, IMHO, the Supra is one notch higher than the 300ZX in engine engineering. That's not saying the 300ZX is horse crap, it's just behind the Supra, and not by much.

If you've driven the Supra, like it as much as the 300ZX, and can "afford" one, then by all means, get the Supra.

Cheers!

Michael.
