(My statement) --->>>
a 35w 4200k HID bulb will put out more light than a 35w 6000k HID bulb. PERIOD.

(his response) ---->>>

dude, where do you get your info from?? you are sooo wrong. umm, how can a 4200K hid pos system be brighter than a 6000k system??? show me where you got that from. i had that same pos system that you had, and its garbage!!
and why are you busting my chops about lights!! iam athe bulb master, LOL!! ask anyone from the ecza, arnel, alex or chivas, i had the kit years before any tt.net'er had them. even the pos 4200k has better output than any fake ass halogen bulb,duh!!!
ive done my research, so YOU should do some yourself, and find out the truth.

For one thing, BJ, your wrong about the "brightness" of the 4200k kit vs the 6000k kit. Light output is measured in LUMENS not kelvin! Kelvin is the color temperature of the light output, ie the higher the "bluer"... so please understand what your talking about before you spout off random comments. A 4200k HID kit IS brighter than a 6000k kit because of the chemicals used to produce the bluer light in the case of a REAL Phillips ULTINON. (other 6000k bulbs are just have blue glass reducing output as well! Just like a ricer blue bulb puts out less light than a normal halogen)

I've gathered most of my information from the phillips lighting forum where people talk about automotive lighting. Phillips has rated its ultinon 6000k hid bulb at 2400 lumens of light output, and the normal hid bulbs at 3200 lumens. The spec sheet you quote is for normal 4.2k bulbs.

OEM Hid applications use 4.2k bulbs! The majority of the light produced is pure white, and the only reason we see the blue or purple hints on the light output is the way their headlight optics are designed! You'll never get the same result with a headlight designed for halogen. (many of the guys on the phillips boards have swapped projectors with OEM HID versions)

A real oem HID car will have a blue or purple tinge only from afar or certain angles. Get in close or a the right angle and you'll see its mostly white. Replace your bulbs with 6000k bulbs and you'll get mostly blue light, and sure you'll look cool but you won't see as well as you could have. Blue is a shitty color for night vision...
(sigh) end rant.

check out the boards, read up...
