Message Hi Greg,

congrats on the Z purchase - I know you'll be satisfied when you get her running in perfect shape. It is a fabulous car and I envy you having such a low-mileage, late model example. As to one of your comments on how perfect she is from the beginning, here's some food for thought:

If you ever get a chance, take a look at a stock TT Z's pre-cats. I think you'll agree that "perfection" is not a term to apply to these babies. They are very, very restrictive for air flow. If you replace these with downpipes (no other changes) you will definitely notice increased performance, both in how hard the car pulls and in how responsive the throttle is. These were designed for emissions purposes, and some have even speculated that the crappy stock air-flow was to limit the horsepower because of Japan's voluntary 280hp limit (in addition to the tight packaging of the Z in the engine bay).

Your Z will still pass smog if you warm it up first and I promise you won't want to go back to driving it with the stock pre-cats. If you get a little more bold, complete the breathing enhancements by putting on a Jim Wolf air-filter (known as a pop charger) and an after-market exhaust and test-pipes. The test-pipes can by swapped out in about 30 minutes for that once a year smog check. Once you have them you won't know how you got along without them. =) You do not need to get a JWT chip and run higher boost to feel the kick in the pants from down pipes, intake and exhaust. Turbo cars are greatly enhanced by breathing help. I used to be a skeptic but now I'm a believer. =)

Also, you'll find that a couple very minor suspension changes will greatly enhance your handling without making your ride harsh - get Eibach pro-kit springs and some anti-sway bars. You'll be glad you did. =)

Oh and get a turbo timer of course, ASAP to take car of your turbos and provide them with a long life.

Anyway have fun with the Z and welcome to the club!
