Message performance, go to a max or ultra high performance tire. This means to take it to the next level and get P-zero Pirellis. Personally, I ended up buying Pilot Sports (damn expensive) but with experience on other cars I can confess they are sublime. Crisp turn it, awesome grip and great wet traction and good as track tire double (basically the best non-slicks). They make the ZTT (stock) stick like a 911 turbo(thats OEM for the newer ones, BMW M's and Vipers)! Anyway, you can't go wrong with the Bridgestone Pole Position Potenza S0-2 tire or Michelin Pilot Sports, they cost more, but provide the most grip and fun. Also, they are very reassuring in the wet (which I like for N. CA winters!). The Pirellis Direzionale and new Rosso series are in the same league, but perform minimally less than what the Bridgestones and Michelins do.
The bottom line is this: Michelin Pilot Sports are the real name brand, but they cost $$$. If you can afford them, buy them. The Bridgestones are very similar but also cost about ~$30 less per tire, and make a great substitute.
If you have any more questions, let me know.
