Message I usually don't do much racing here in Southern California due to all the traffic, however on the way home last Friday I just so happen to pull up behind a new silver 911 turbo at a signal. It was around 7:30pm so traffic was light and I was on a long city street that had very little traffic signals. It was sitting next to a SLK230.

Well needless to say, most of the owners of this very fast $100k plus Porsche usually are old coots that won't drive past 60 MPH. So I was not really expecting anything to happen. The light turned green and lull and behold the 911 took off fast. I assumed he was showing the SLK230 how slow his car really was. So I decided to pursue behind the 911 and tail him a bit. I guess when he figured that whatever was behind him was keeping up, he would have to check out, so he signaled and switch to the right lane and slowed down to check me out. I was in third going about 45 MPH, and he sat to the right of me just a car length behind me and then gunned it. Bam! I was on it.

Needless to say, I have only owned my stage III 94 ZTT for about a year and I have never taken on a really fast exotic yet, so I was curious as to how well I would do. I really expected this car to blow my doors off, but as we both took off this guy could not shake me, 90, 100, 120, 130, 140 (note this road has some very wide long turns), we were neck in neck, and then as a traffic signal approached we both slowed. He turned right at the signal and I went straight.

I was shaking from both the adrenalin rush and the sure fact that we were going hella fast for a city street (not sure what ever happened to the SLK230).

If I ever had any doubt about my Z power, it is now a thing of the past.

So this is by far no real kill story, but it sure killed me knowing that a car that sells for almost three times what my car originally sold for new, couldn't take me in a little street race.

Cheers!
