There are cases where slight wheel spin will actually result in higher trap speeds (operant word...slight), but you are arguing against the laws of physics, significant wheel/tire spin robs a car of distance/length of the track to develop and maintain acceleration, that's aside from the power characteristics explained by SpecialtyZ. From a common sense perspective (which I sometimes admittedly lack), if you chew up the track going slow (ie.spinning your tires) you don't have as much track to accelerate down=lower trap speeds.
