Message just as any modding goes, the gains vs. price is an exponential curve... it just takes more and more money to eek out more and more hp. in the end it boils down to: if you can afford it, then it's worth it to you. if we were really all looking for best bang for the buck, we'd all be driving hopped up rustangs. :)

for example, i'd rather spend $2k to get like 20 more hp than put on a bodykit. a bodykit is worthless to me... but to each his own.

as far as the limits of the stock engine, it has been shown time and time again that the rods are the first to go and that 600hp is a good point to consider doing forged rods. yes, people do run as much as 7-800hp on stock rods, but are doing so at considerable risk. but for some people, the cost:risk ratio is reasonable for them to do so... again, everyone should go according to his own situation. it's all a numbers game... not all rods will fail at 601hp, but 600hp is a reasonably safe cut off point. it's just like tuning your air:fuel ratio... you can lean it out to get more hp but decrease your safety zone. it's just a matter of how much cushion you'd like to have.

i applaud zhound's excellent results on a stock engine... seeing those kinds of numbers is a great accomplishment!
