I bought cheetah new in 1991 with no intentions of do what i did to it. In 1992 i started becoming interested in what the car was capable of. I had heard of Stillen and JWT and a number of other companies that were trying new things with the 300zxtt. Now if i were to explain every detail that took place between 1992-1999 you would be as old as me when you finished reading it. By the way, I'm 36 not 56 to whom ever said that.LOL. Anyway, at that time there really wasn't alot of 300zx'' being taken to seriously and the mods were still questionable. I was a guinny pig for many of the new products that were being produced. I worked with companies such as JWT, Raybestos, Vericom and had Level 10 as my main sponser. The Cheetah was the first 300ZX to break into the solid 11's and then the 10's. In 1996 I made my best run to date, a 10.88 et, at US 41 dragstrip. My 60 foot time was 1.43 sec. and my 0-60mph time was 2.9 sec. I made this run in 80 degree weather, on BFG drag radials. I had yet to try running with drag slicks. Later in October of 1996, Turbo Magazine sponsored the car by putting it on the cover. Also in that same year, the Cheetah won the american muscle car championships as the first import allowed into that sanctioned race. This did not go over well. lol. In 1997, I won the US import nationals at Route 66 Raceway in Chicago. At that point, I started having to deal with some serious health problems. I had three spine operations and a number of complications. For the next two years I was unable to work and was forced to sell the car. During that two years, I was able to detail the engine with all hand fabricated stainless steel parts. There were a number of major modifications done to the internals and externals of the engine. Selling the car was very difficult as you can imagine. I had owned and built it for ten years. I was never given the chance to test the car with the new modifications. Although I knew what it's capabilities and many of them weren't disclosed. Since then Kyle Puckett from SPG has broken my 10.88 et record and taken the 300 to new heights. I am proud to say that it took four years for someone to beat my record. (Humbly)When ever I ran my car, I drove it to the track, made my runs and drove it home with the air conditioning on. The car was 3980 pounds when I made the 10.88 run. This was due to the many accessories that were in the car and that I instisted on keeping. Such as, leather seats, leather cruise control, air conditioning and an 800 watt Alpine CVA 1100 stereo system. I never sacrifices luxery for speed. That was what made the car special to me. I apologize for the long history lesson, but I have been asked many times over by many of the newbies on the forum about the car. Hope this gives you some information. I had many pics of the car before it was sold. They don't look anything like the car looks in the rides section now. Thanks for the time. Your friend, Tim Liess
