In early October I went to the bank and asked for a huge loan. I was sure I could get enough money to look at a 240sx, 2nd gen rx7, or '92 celica, but never thought I could get enough to buy a 300 - my under 10 million dollar-non-Ferrari dream car. But the bank isn't so smart and in fact gave me lots of money, and I was so excited I could hardly keep my insides in. So I went out and found a pearl yellow '90 NA for a reasonable price (had a bit of rust, bald tires, and a bit of interior wear, but I planned to spend the remainder of my loan to make it perfect). I loved it with everything I had for a whole six days before I went to the mall. I was there for only an hour, but when I came out my car was GONE. Unless it has happened to you, it's impossible to imagine the feeling of seeing someone else parked in the spot where you left YOUR car. Then the police were rude and did basically nothing to find my car, and most insurance companies can't do anything for 30 days, in case it is recovered. For three weeks, I feared the worst-that my baby was in a billion pieces, never to be seen again, but someone finally called it in as abandoned - the theives drove it about 100 blocks, ripped out the seats, scratched "bagged" into the hood and left it. The seats are worth so much that the insurance company wrote the car off, and wisely I didn't but it back, because a while later I found out the car is under investigation because it had changed hands about 4 times in the last year, and I'm now very relieved that it's no longer in my posession. Anyway, the insurance company wrote the car off for quite a bit more than what I paid for it (unusual, but no complaints here), and last week I finally found the perfect one - '90, red, NA (I'm still poor!) very low mileage - 100,000km, I think that's about 60,000miles, and in absolute perfect condition. So it didn't turn out all bad, except that I only drove the new one for three days before it snowed! Aaarrrgghh, how frustrating. It looks so sad all covered in snow. I hope the roads at least clear enough that I can get it to a garage soon! The moral of this story is DO NOT rely on the crappy factory alarm - protect your pride and joy. Good luck everyone, I hope this never happens to any of you. Look after those Z's!
