You cannot tell anything by screenshots. Even the Super Nintendo could make nice splash screens, that doesn't mean it could animate them well. A measure of a systems power is how well it can deliver good motion with high detail. By looking at a screenshot, the picture may look nice, but you cannot tell how fast the system is rendering those scenes. It may only be doing it at 30 fps. In the PS2's case, they showed lots of amazing videos before it was released, but as it turned out, those were pre-rendered Mpegs that are played in between levels on games. The PS2 was not rendering them. : The gamecube, may seem weak as it seems right now but If youve seen gamecube screenshots of the Phantasy star online 2 or resident evil, its clear the word weak and gamecube shouldn't come in the same sentence.
