So he hooked you up with good prices but I can tell you I've heard quite a few horror stories coming from his shop in recent months. At this point a lot of guys on here aren't too fond of him. As for having the Z's there for conversion... I'm told he's always way behind schedule and some of the cars have been there for quite sometime. The latest case was a fellow TT.netter went to Guy for some clutch work after a referral from another member here. All the guy wanted was a full ACT clutch and a JUN flywheel installed. When the work was done, his car suddenyl became difficult to shift or get into gear, often crunching gears. He was told by guy that the slave cylinder was looking like it was on it's way out. Thinking that might be a problem we went ahead and replaced both the clutch master and slave cylinders but with no luck... same result. My suspicion was the actual clutch that went in. Thinking it was just a bad pressure plate from ACT. So he spoke to Guy about it. His response to it was his transmission was dying or something to that nature. Kinda suspsicious of you ask me.... car went in with a good transmission without any of the symptoms and after a clutch job, it mysteriously develops a tranny shifting problem? Well after a little more time, the member decides to have the tranny pulled and replaced the clutch with a JWT Heavy Duty clutch. The work was to be done thru United Auto Sales in DE (now they guys are way more first rate than Speedlab NYC). Well needless to say, when the clutch came out, it looks nothing like the ACT clutch. A call was made to ACT and even the CS guy on the phone comfirmed to him the clutch wasn't theirs. Mind you, a digital pic was taken of the clutch that Guy put in (which was supposed to be an ACT) and emailed to that person at ACT. The clutch that came out his car was beaten to hell... it was as if it was pulled some other Z and slapped on his car. You could see scarring on the clutch disk that is consistent with abuse and his JUN flywheel did not show consistent scarring marks like on the clutch disk itself. Fishy? I think so. I've heard a bunch of things from that shop. Oh and the funny thing is that as soon as a brand new JWT clutch went on his car, his shifting problems suddenly disappears. You tell me. He's also been known to suddenly change parts to someone's car without customer consent. Another case, someone requested specific 555 injectors installed on the car and the guy brought his own parts... turns out 485 injectors were installed because he just happened to have them laying around. Never did he ask for consent from the customer prior to the switch. That's a just a couple of examples of the vast amount of crap I hear about him. Just because he gave you a great deal on a spool up kit don't mean shit. I'd say, wait till he finishes to job and till you're thoroughly satisfied with his work before you praise anyone. See if he delivers the quality work that he promises especially about finishing the job on time.
