But the skidpad has only to do with your tires when comparing these two cars. Supra TT's have lower profile tires and more than an inch more rubber contact patch than stock TTZ wheels and tires out of the factory. Nissan should have really addressed this issue and resolved it with larger and wider wheels/tires later in production! I guess they were But to further comment, my experience with both cars, and thus the main determining factor when I bought my TTZ, is the feedback and tightness. The Z really feels like a very well put together sports car, like a 911 with superior balance and flatness, whereas the Supra turbo feels like a Camry on steroids (much softer, and bulkier). The Supra, similarly heavy, feels huge and more clumsy relative to the Z, and the distribution of weight in its bigger size accounts for some of its lack of ability to keep up with a Z manned with an equal driver (I could provide a very physics like explanation, but I'll spare you b/c I don't feel like delving into the technicalities right now). The Z carries its weight well for a few reasons. It is majorly benefitted by its compact design combining it's rather long wheel base (for its size), wide stance and short overhangs. The Z while not a big car except for actual mass, b/c of its design (with a great deal of width), it handles very well due to the way its weight was properly placed in and around the car. Thats why it is a very balanced, confidence inspiring car on and off the track. The weight makes it hard for a novice driver to toss around hairpins (all cars are difficult to toss, but some are less tricky (ie Miata)). However, once you have any driving skill, this isn't a problem, as all a heavier car requires is a modified line in and around the turn. Heavier cars can grip harder in a corner and exit with a higher speed, but smaller cars can enter more quickly and take a slightly tighter line. This is why I believe the Rx7 and TTZ are almost equals on the race track, as the RX7 has more nimbleness, but the TTZ has better balance in turn and stability and it is well endowed with the power which makes it quicker in stock form. Just imagine if you gutted the Z to make it as light as a rx7, YIKES! Regardless, even with smaller wheels and tires, a Z can still hand a Supra its ass on a road course!
