Message I have a set of 'true t28s', though. They do exist - i sent you some information but you wouldn't e-mail me or reply - I just wanted to show you another subset of the turbos garrett has produced and pick your brain a little.

: The reason why reman T28's arecrap is because of poor quality control of tolerance in the reman process, not the turbos running to hot.

Not completely true - Some of them die due to poor tolerances, but alot of them exhibit failures that imply they're blowing too hot and cooking themselves or the motor they're attached to. Ask the people who've tanked a cylinder and had t28's.. it goes hand in hand

: Reman requires presision centerless grinding amoung other things.

Yes - *poor* remanufacturing is bad for car and turbo - remanufacturing in general is not to blame.

: A turbo is actualy a gas turbine that must be designed correctly for it to work right. Just putting big wheels in a stock turbo does not make a ture T28.

: You are right though, there is nothing wrong with putting a big trim T25 compressor in a stock housing ala, JWT Sport 500 or the original HKS sport turbo. This is an intended end use by Garrett.

Indeed - the t25 doesn't cut much of the precious diffuser area away. the extra mm's on the 28 mess up the dynamics of the compressor side.

Good luck with getting car fixed up - very very sorry to hear a wonderful Z was damaged. I'm sure your eye for detail will lead to a better than new product.
