: The reason T28's blow up is because they run to hot and it cooks the seals out of the turbo (sometimes cooking the motor too). It has little to do with them just being remanufactured..

The reason why reman T28's arecrap is because of poor quality control of tolerance in the reman process, not the turbos running to hot.

Reman requires presision centerless grinding amoung other things.

Reman T28's are also crap because they usualy involve stuffing big wheels in the stock housings that are not designed to take them. I have written all sorts of stuff on this in SCC and other places if you care to read more details.

A turbo is actualy a gas turbine that must be designed correctly for it to work right. Just putting big wheels in a stock turbo does not make a ture T28.

You are right though, there is nothing wrong with putting a big trim T25 compressor in a stock housing ala, JWT Sport 500 or the original HKS sport turbo. This is an intended end use by Garrett.
