all that length of pipe to the turbo, then the downpipe and weight of the exhaust banging around while driving, those rough welds are high stress points. Add a bunch of heat to that mix and you may have a weld fail. I dont know if I could do better or not on the entire design of the manifold, but the welds, yes. Whoever welded those seams were not continuous in their weld. It looks like their gun was not properly set (wire delivery/power) and weld continuity could not be maintained.
