Message American V8's are notorious for having unbalanced internals as well as very "loose" tolerances. Take away the dampener on a V8 and you are going to do some damage. This is also part of the reason why they sell really nice aftermarket dampeners for V8's with moving mechanical or viscous internals.
Comparing a highly refined Z engine to a GM or Ford truck V8 engine is not a good comparison.
