The clutch pedal dropped to the floor and didn't come back up. And I mean dropped flat - thunk! I pulled over and checked the fluid, it was empty, so I filled it. I had my buddy pump (with his hand) the clutch pedal and watched the fuild squirt out of the slave. I put the car into third gear and started it and limped to a lift that I had access to. I couldn't use the clutch, just kept it in third gear, used a lot of gas/brake action. After lifting it I realized that I didn't want to drop the tranny myself so I had it towed to a dealer and had them fix it since I knew the problem. The clutch ball broke allow the fork to overextend the slave unit which means that the bell had to be opened so the ball could be replaced and the slave had be replaced also. Came to around $400ish. This happened on day two of me owning my 2+2. So moral of the story is that you should replace the ball when you get a chance so you don;t have to limp somewhere in third gear and have to replace the slave also.
