Message My fiance's mom had it and i wanted it bad. It was way way ahead of its time being designed in the mid 70's. Its slow, this one was a turbo one which was not a factory option but a costly aftermarked addition, still very very slow. There are even a very few twin turbos. It was so damn cool though. It is a car built for the driver. It is fun to drive but sadly underpowered (hey its not to bad for 1980)The doors really are quite novel, they work well if you get them reconditioned to be tight again. DeLoreans incorporated a lot of technology that was new at the time, some still used widely in automobiles today. Contrary to popular opinion they are pretty reliable once they have been updated. Like the Z community the DeLorean community is Very passionate to say the least. There are a lot of 100k mi plus daily deloreans out there and still quite a bit of new parts warehoused in houston where they also sell rebuilt and updated deloreans and do only delorean repair and such. I just think they are cool because a great car designer had an idea for a car and he had the balls to try to make it and it pretty much worked. the body panel presses for the original cars were illegally confiscated and dumped into the ocean so no more deloreans. Its a car with a cool story behind it. If you can find a good deal on one less than 10k say and its in good shape and you have the extra cash it might be a cool car if you are looking at getting one.
