is the underpinning underneath the center panel. It's normally one unit and the plate you see is the two 'inner' legs of the center panel that attach to the front brace. I wanted those legs chromed (they're the only part visible w/ the center panel on) but that can't do just part of a piece, they have to do the whole thing. I noticed when POPS posted pics of his engine bay (which has WAAAY more chrome than I do) he did the same thing I did and took pics w/ the panel removed but that underpinning there which I thought was pretty cool, so I took pics the same way. If you remove your center panel and flip it over, you'll see that it's actually two pieces. The chromed piece is normally black.
