If it snows more than say, 5 days in the winter, do not depend on a motorcycle as your only form of transportation. I did one winter in college... would not want to do that again. It wasn't the cold that was troubling, I just bundled up. But ice and motorcycles do NOT go together. Especially bigger engined bikes that have a lot of torque. If you must have a bike (and I can relate - I have one and love it) get yourself a front-wheel drive car to drive in the winter. Needn't be fancy. An old Subaru would work fine. But do not ride a motorcycle if there's more than a tiny bit of ice on the roads. You are asking for injury and _extremely_ expensive motorcycle repairs if you do that. -Ben
