A few weeks ago after my dyno session I was driving home when I stopped at a light. I decided to give it a bit of gas since it was running so great when all of a sudden I hear a clunk and the car dies. Now the car was having trouble with some rattling from the transmission area earlier so I thought it was related so I decided to drop the tranny to see what was up. Turns out that 4 out of the 8 flywheel bolts had sheared off and the other 4 were loose (thus the rattling from the tranny area). I was finally able to extract out the broken bolts with a lot of drilling and cussing and broken drill bits. Got 8 new flywheel bolts, torqued them down to spec and assembled everything. I tell you what, taking stuff apart is a lot easier than putting it back together! :) Still a problem, though, car would not idle at all. I would have to keep the foot goosing the gas in order to keep the car going. There's this sound like a huge vacuum leak but I cant find it. I manage to limp it over to my mechanic's cuz I was tired of messing with it and he looks under the hood, pokes around while I'm goosing the throttle and all of a sudden the car levels out and starts to idle smoothly. I go over to him and he takes his hand out from beneath the intake manifold and the car dies. Well, turns out I blew out the penny I had JB welded there to cover up the EGR hole in the manifold. Maybe I didnt use enough or something but at least its a simple fix and hopefully I'll be finished in time for Texas World Speedway next weekend.
