Message Well long story short -- but i took my Z to my mechanic on friday so he could fix my NOS leak, instal my new purge kit and blow down tube, my newly painted cruise control & hicas unit and newly powdercoated pwr steering resevoir along w/ a bunch of little things to get done before Nopi.

So i was supposed to pick up the Z yesterday and i called and he told me everything was done except the steering mysteriously wasnt working at all after the instal of the new resevoir. So he told me to call around 11am in the morning and it should be all ready. So i call and he answers by telling me "bad news" -- apparently when he started to bleed the powersteering he found SAND in the fluid -- so he began to bleed all the lines and used a coffee strainer to capture all the sand -- at 1pm today he had over a teaspoon of sand and told me that he has to pretty much completly tear apart my PS system (lines, pump, and rack) to bleed/clean the system to try to get the sand out and then re-instal to try to see if that corrects the issue. If not he has to tear it all apart again and then put in all new parts.
At 1pm today he had already spent 5-6 hours on my pwr steering alone and said he had a long road ahead of him.
So basically best case scenario is that he bleeds the entire system and is able to clean it and it works again and that i get my Z back around 6-7pm on thursday in which case i can try to do a quick cleaning and make to nopi on friday. But its seeming more likely that it wont get fixed/done in time and i'll be missing the damn event.
Of course this bill for the pwr steering fix/problem will be quite high even on the best case scenario for something that only cost me about 45 to powdercoat.

Yes i know this is all very petty and quite moot in light of our nations events -- but it does seem that tt.net is trying to get back on car topics so this is my simple and discouraging update. Again my heart and prayers go out to all those involved directly or indirectly with the horrible events that took place yesterday.

I have to agree, but I put them in places that are illegal (n/m) - Lady300Z 14:48:56 08/28/01
