my rights? Me and my father have been driving all over the last month, going all over ohio and to west virginia looking for a clean Z. We narrowed it down to 3 and bought what we thought was the best choice. It's a 93, one owner black on black 5-speed. Drove so tight and smoothe, like it was brand new. Car had a 5k black repaint that is straight as an arrow and shinned like glass. Car belonged to a friend of the dealer owwner. We put a deposit on it early this week and went to bring the car home yesterday and it drove great, Then when dusk hit, the headlights didnt come on and none of the dash lights work, so we bring the car back barely making it in the dark and none of the sales guys could figure out how to fix it and the service guys were gone. We replaced the fuses but thad didnt work. All day thursday I was so excited to get it and I had to drive home with a demo car instead. So the sales manager joe was being a real prick, but the owner jake was profusely apologizing and said he would personally deliver the car the next day. So my mom calls me from work at 1 and tells me its home and The clock crept so slow till 5. I get home rush to get the keys and take it out and the shifter wont shift into any gear. It's stuck in neutral. So then my dad comes out and trys to shif it and the gears ground so he shut it off. When he went in to call the dealership I tried again and it went in gear, so i started it with my foot on the clutch and it dove forwards. Then i tried starting it in reverse dove backwards and stalled. Clutch has absolutely no pressure. Look in the clutch slave cylinder and there is no fluid. Then i get to talking to my mom and she said that the owner did not drop it off, some guy who looked like a farmer did and he ground the gears 3 times trying to get it in the garage and almost hit our vette. And he left without saying a word about any problems. So then my Dad calls the dealership and the prick manager joe said he would have the owner call us tommorow morning and then he reminded us we bought the car as is. My mom said that wouldnt due, so she called back, started to loose her temper and then the guy hung up on my mom. Then she called back and tried to calmy ask for the owners cell phone number and he wouldnt give it to us. Then he made it a point to call back and say if we continued to use those kinds of words/tone he could tell us to get lost and they wouldnt have to fix anything. As far as what the problems could be, I remember the sales girl telling us that the clutch had not been replaced, but they had replaced the clutch slave cylinder on it. I dont think there is any coincidence there. Also, they told us the problem with the lights was that the wire that went from the fuse box was broke, they probally broke that when they did the shotty job replacing the clutch slave cylinder. So now I have a beautifull car sitting in the garage I cant drive, and it will probally have to be towed 2.5 hours back to cleavlend to be fixed if Im lucky enough for them to fix it. Now my dad is telling me not to switch any rims or stereo yet, cause he is wondering if it was a mistake buying the car, and wonders if we should try and give it back =(. I really dont believe the car is a lemon. It was one Owner in his 50's, the guy kept it all those years, and never modded it, and it drove better then any of the other ones we looked at. I think it is just the victim of a very poor service job. Hopefully all is straightened out in a timely and friendly manor. I finally get the car of my dreams and this is what happens.. The delership owner even made a point to call and apologize again this morning about what happens yesterday so I anticipate he will be more coopertive then the sales manager, but I have to wait till tommorow to hear from him. sorry just had to vent. Do you have any ideas what my rights are here?
