I pretreated the intakes by spraying a small amount of carb cleaner into the throttle bodies to soften deposits. I used 1 quart of water on each intake. I kept the rpm at about 2000. I let the vacuum suck in water until the rpm started to drop. Then I pulled the vacuum line out of the water until the rpm stabilized. Kept doing this until all the water was gone. Checked inside the throttle bodies and all I saw was bright shiny aluminum. The vacuum ports I used were those closest to the throttle plates (RS-EGR, LS-Carbon Canister). I wanted to clean my TB's but I thought the method in the FAQ was too messy. I think using Red Line injector cleaner with every tankful of gas for the last year, really helped achieve NJ emissions of 0 NOX, 0 CO, 15 HC. I suppose the water treatment probably helped also.
