I have occasionally sold Supra units, which is why he mistakenly said Supra in that e-mail. But, you and I both know he was talking about the Z (since you were asking Racelogic about Z units after all). Anyways, here is a second e-mail correspondence which I received from him after, just so we can be sure he was referring to the right units... My e-mail... Julian, I will be organizing another group buy within the next few weeks. Are there enough units in supply to support a sale of similar magnitude to previous sales (15-30 units)? Also, I have received word from a UK member of the internet forums that a company in England is selling the fully loaded adjustable system for US$670... about half of what we've been selling them for in the previous group buys. Is this correct or are they mistaken? Or is it that the UK spec units are simpler and thus cheaper? Thanks for your help.
Racelogic's response... Dear Bernie, Thank you for your emails about the TC system. The UK system is simpler than the US system as it is non-sequential, and we do therefore limit this to the UK only, as it can damage an engine on a US spec car. Best regards, Julian Thomas
I don't know what you are referring to about Julian using a false e-mail, but his correct e-mail is... julian@racelogic.co.uk. Feel free to contact him with your concerns. In the end, no amount of me copying and pasting e-mails is going to be worth as much as talking to Julian himself, so here is his phone number +44 - 1280 - 823803. Again, I invite you to contact him. Hey, maybe I am being screwed... but if that's the case, so is everybody else in the entire United States! The simple fact of the matter is that nobody has ever bought a unit for that price over here. I am simply a middle man, and I certainly am not going to pay other people money to take merchandise from me... I'm not in business to lose money. Prices do vary according to the market environment... that is simple economics. Being that Racelogic is essentially a monopoly, they can dictate whatever price they wish in each market. Anyways, there are a variety of other things that must be considered when importing merchandise, besides the difference in U.S. vs. U.K. systems, that can widely vary the end cost... export tariffs, VAT, etc. Now, I'm not an economics major, but I have purchased plenty of things from Japan and overseas to know that you're never ever going to get the same price as somebody else is in a different country. Anyways, we can simplify this to the same core concept again. That price was a misquote, and is below even my cost, so there is no feasible way that I can sell these units at that price. Past history Doesn't put credibility on people. I was a member on this forum since 97, but my name got screwed from the DB. Does that make more badass than you. Well, I would disagree. Past history and reputation absolutely gives credibility to people, especially in a business setting. How many people will go to a doctor that has a bad reputation? Not to many. Anyways, I was not using the fact that I am a long time member in good standing to say that I'm better than you or that you're wrong and I'm right. I was simply providing my background to provide an additional aspect to support my character... I'm not the bad guy that you seem to believe I am. Incidentally, as can be found in the "site FAQ", Twinturbo.net "went live late the night of June 3rd, 1998", so I'm not sure how you could be a member since 1997. Do please direct me to the page it says anything about sequential and non-sequential systems on the Z. I would honestly like to be corrected. Please refer to the EF & EC section, I remember seeing a diagram showing the two different injection methods somewhere in the beginning of that section. Again, I don't know if the diagram actually proves anything, but I remember seeing it. I don't have a manual in front of me, otherwise I'd give you an exact page. Now, I am asking you in all sincerity and with the utmost of respect, to please refrain from slandering me. Again, I am doing my best to provide an opportunity to the members of this community to be the proud owners of a great product. And to do so at a price which would be otherwise unobtainable for them. If you wish to sell a competing product for a cheaper price, by all means do so... that's the whole basis of the free market economy. I'm sure you are a nice guy that is just irritated that he couldn't get as good of a deal as he hoped. I honestly am sorry that you had a bad experience with Racelogic... but please don't blame me for the prices they set. I don't speak for Racelogic, although I can pass along any information they give me (as I have done with the e-mails), and I'm not a direct employee of Racelogic. I'm essentially a distributor, an entirely independent entity from Racelogic, so I would kindly ask you to not pass any grievances you have with them onto me.
