OK, first the Good: Getting ready for the Z show in Toronto this weekend. Throttle cover, balance tube, timing covers and fan shroud back from paint shop and installed:
Had the throttle cover and balance tube done in a bright metallic red, the rest in high gloss black. The silicone hoses may look kinda pink in the pic, but in reality they are a fairly close match when clean =) Here is a close up:
The difference in gloss in black over stock in absolutely amazing. The reds didn't come out too well in the pic but they look hot. BTW, there is a piece under the hood that came out of TTpete's motor. Anyone guess what it is? =) (No Toronto guys, LOL).Now, the Bad: Despite a timing belt change (discovered old one was off several teeth), my hesitatio/stumbling problem didn't go away. Playing around with the AVCR I found that I was still boosting 14psi with the unit off (yes, boost jets are out). So I called Apex, they said check the solenoid using the solenoid duty percentage display. Sure enough, it's 0.0%, which means my solenoid is shot already (only 6 months old). And Apex warranty is 30 days, and a new one is $70. What a PITA. Guess I'll be shoppping for a new one. And the Ugly: Overall I was very happy with the underhood paint stuff, but they had a hard time getting adhesion to the fan shroud (8 years of Vinylex will do that), and they had some fisheyes near the seams, and one run. Still looks good except upon very close inspection, but I'm a perfectionist. Oh well.

"Slow in, fast out!"
Any idiot can drive fast; what makes a driver good is the ability to screw up and still save it...
