: All right, here's the deal. I turn sixteen this Sunday. Get my licence on Monday (since the DMV's not open on my birthday) :P : my parents are being extremely generous. My dad's shopping for a new car (he's looking at an Acura 3.2 TL, while I'm trying tDBD::ODBC::db prepare failed: (DBD: st_prepare/SQLAllocStmt err=-2) at incl_db.pl line 302. : o convince him to order himself an Audi S4.. hehe, yes, I'm self-serving) and he'll be giving me his car. It's a '93 Honda Accord station wagon. Not a bad car, really, it's a stick with about 85,000 miles on the odometer. : Now here's the quandary. I have $2600 saved up. if I were to sell the Accord, I could get a good $9000 for it. It's really in great shape, and that's low miles for a family-hauler wagon. That puts me up in the $10-12k range for a car. I've been lusting after a Z32 for about eight months now. lust, lust, lust. I've gotta have one. But now that I'm right on the brink of being able to drive, I'm realizing for myself that I really won't be able to afford one. I can buy one, but I won't be able to afford the insurance and repairs. What I'm considering doing is buying myself a '70-73 240Z with my money and not sell the wagon. I'd have a project to work on to satisfy my mechanical needs, and when I'm done, I'll have a great old sports car AND a family hauler. : What do you think? Would you rather have both a slow-ass Honda and an old broken-down Fairlady or a nice, new Z32? Personally.. I'm kind of leaning towards the former option.. hehe. Opinions on the original 240Z? How about Zs with V8 swaps? That would be so much fun to do, buy a Z sans engine for a grand or so and spend my year in auto shop dropping a 350 Chevy in it. : Thanks! > you put and ls1/6speed combo into a 240Z and you have an easy low 12second car with street tires. I am considering selling my TT in a few years to do just such a project, I think the look of the original 240 is stunning..and with modern v8 power it will kick some serious ass.
