In some states, Florida for one, if you under value the price of a car on a title application or tag application guess what you get in the mail....a bill for the taxes you owe between the stated under value and the fair market value! The only way to contest it is to appear before a notary and prove that is what you paid for the car! Find out if your state is one that does that. In NC sales tax on person to person is only 3%, why fight it?
