Message many of you know i recently got into a rear-end collision. and many have mentioned that it is 100% the other party's fault by law since it was a rear-end accident.

some of you mentioned that i should not even call my insurance company but deal directly with the other's since it is 100% their fault and they will be the ones paying for the damage. that's exactly what my body shop told me as well. however some have mentioned it may be a good idea to let my insurance company know too.

is there any bad sides to letting my insurance company know, or are they going to find out anyway? since it was a rear end collision, my rates won't go up at all if i called them right? then should i just let them know? any disadvantages of doing so? or should i deal strictly with the other party?

thanks for your help.
