Message OK, I have a set of 555s on their way which should be here by the end of the week or beginning of next week! Woo Hoo!

I spent some time the other day working on the cooling system on the NA engine which I am converting to TT (or already have done 95% of) See pics here if you want to see a full breakdown and buildup. [ http://ashleypowers.terrashare.com/Image%20Gallery/Engine%20Buildup/index.htm ]

I have bypassed the throttle body cooling system and have used the coolant tubes to provide cooling to the turbos. It required only 2ft of additional coolant hoses (9.5mm) to connect everything and I was able to use two of the nissan factory hoses. On the back of the engine are two 20mm pipes that provide coolant to the heater core, but they also have two smaller 9.5mm pipes that come off of them each for a total of 4 connections. One of the pipes provides the "pushing" force of the water pump and the other is on the "suction" end of the pump. I have connected the water lines to the coolant jackets of the turbos. Question here is, does it matter which direction the coolant flows through the turbos? I have rebuilt the turbos myself and I know the total inner workings of them and where the oil and coolant passages are in the cartridge. The water jacket only cools one half of the cartridge as the other half is used for oil delivery and return. There were no differences between either of the water ports going into the turbo cartridge and I would imagine that it doesnt matter which direction the water flows through them, but I want to be sure just in case.

I am also wanting some additional reassurance on the method I am using to get coolant to the turbos. There are two water pipes on the back of the engine and one comes straight from the water pump and the other feeds into the back side of the passenger side head. I am getting the "outflow" from the one coming from the water pump: this one carries coolant to the turbos, and I am returning the coolant from the turbos to the other pipe that feeds into the backside of the head. I think this is correct as on the front side of the heads there is the upper coolant pipe (aluminum) that carries heated coolant to the radiator. The manual does not show where the coolant comes from for the turbos nor does it show where it returns back to the engine. Perhaps some information on this would be helpful.

The stock coolant pipes (metal) for the driver turbo go to the back side of the driver side head and the other pipe carries towards the front of the engine. I suspect that the one carrying forward links in with the stock throttle body cooling system. But the passenger side turbo pipes(metal also) both stick straight up. Where do they all connect from the factory?

Sorry for the long ass post and to the admin for posting the latter part of this technically oriented document here in the general forum. :)
