About 10 years ago I had an almost identical situation with my '90 Z. With the difference being after it died it would restart after about a minute (the time it took to raise the hood see anything was a miss). I ran pretty much the same tests as you, replaced the pump because it had been whining at startup for a few years, but that did not improve the situation. I then went to the FPCU, I opened it up, examined the circuit board with a magnifying glass and found a cold solder point. Re-soldered the suspicious points and it has run strong ever since. As far as the pump goes, I had about 200K miles on the car at the time and it seems it was still functioning after all. I still have the old pump if anyone needs one.
