Late last year I finally discovered an issue that was plaguing my Z, it ended up being a bad OEM MAF that I purchased new from Z1 during black friday 2022, it was 320 bucks shipped out to CA. Starting in 2024 and getting worse in 2025, I was getting some strange idle issues but also what felt like inconsistent boost/power. Eventually I tried a used OEM MAF from a 120k mile parts car (after trying everything else first of course), and the issues were resolved. The new OEM MAF I bought only lasted a fraction of the time I would have expected. I started inspecting and comparing the MAF I got from Z1 versus the one off the parts car, and I noticed it was missing the NISSAN logo on the side, but also that the top box on the MAF seemed to be re-sealed by hand, where the original parts car one, the top seal looked mechanically applied. Seems very fishy… I thought the Z1 may have sold me a refurb or something. Old OEM vs New OEM

 I got in touch with Z1 about it, they insisted that it was a genuine OEM Nissan part and that if I would have gotten in touch within 1 year of purchase, it could have been replaced under warranty. I really was thinking Z1 scammed me with some bunk part, but then I discovered the same exact part also being sold as OEM on CZP’s site. Thanks to CZP taking high res photos of all their parts, you can see no Nissan Logo and the same hand re-sealed lid. They also said that is what they receive directly from Nissan. 

So at this point I’m confident that Z1 didn’t scam me, but I’m suspicious of these parts that Nissan is selling as new OEM MAFs at close to 1000 dollars. They seem like they’re refurbished or made by some other supplier who is doing things differently than the older truly OEM ones. My failure could just be an outlier which is why I wanted to see if anyone else had similar issues with these particular logo-less MAFs, but I’m pretty skeptical regardless because of the cost and short warranty period. After finally nailing down the issue as being a bad MAF, I decided a serious upgrade was in order for the intake system. I purchased one of the new in-house CZP MAFs that just happened to release, and I swear there was a noticeable difference in performance even from the good parts car MAF that originally resolved my problem. With the MAF being such a critical component to the whole car running well, I think the new CZP Cartridge MAF is actually a pretty big deal for our cars. I ended up with two of them, along with the Dual-Intake Kverter and two JWT short filter to complete the upgrade. The Z has been feeling better than ever!
