Message	and the bumper had to come off, i'd do it before handing over to the mechanic shop. Getting good bumper fitment upon re install depends on care taken for alignment, fastener tightening sequence and final torque. If fasteners are just "ran down" in random order, final fit likely will not be as good as it was before.
