Message This is my only objection about using "upgraded" VTC springs and the potential hazard they have to ruin your VTC(s) and possibly your engine by putting metal filings into it.

This is a small example of the the parts I throw away due to excessive wear. I have seen one that was worn down by 4mm, unfortunately I don't have a picture of it. Parts marked 1, 2, and 3 all have worn thrust surfaces - part 4 is an example of a good thrust surface.

Here is the thrust surface as seen from the back of the VTC. When the front spring is installed in coil bind, all of the load is applied to this surface and it does not survive very long.
