Message and fought with it forever. It was super annoying. I replaced pads, checked all the hardware, looked over every possible connection and couldn't find it. I was considering setting the car on fire but then found an obscure post on a forum where someone else had this and it ended up being bolts that connected their 2 piece rotors. They had rusted and were allowing a slight amount of movement / creaking / clicking / popping.

I had tried everything else so I figured why not. Mine where badly rusted. After getting new screws and cleaning everything up I put it back together and the problem was instantly gone.

If you have two piece rotors this might be something to look into.
