I never thought this would happen to me. This is just a bad dream. This happens to other people. This isn't happening. That didn't just happen. Do I still have all my teeth? Is my passenger OK? I can't believe that the 30 year old air bag worked at all. I taste blood. The stereo was still on jamming a favorite tune as the coolant from the smashed front end leaked onto the sidewalk while I tried to make sense of what happened. Having just recently attended to a lengthy upgrade to the FPCU and fuel pump wiring to account for running out of fuel pressure on the dyno, the car was ready for a re-tune. It was making 400+wrhp. I told myself: "When the car is tuned and proven to be mechanically sound, invest in new tires. It's time." I was just giving a friend of mine a ride to lift his spirits, as his home life was a bit rough. Then the boost hit in second car and the rear of the car kicked to the right. I over-compensated to prevent going into oncoming traffic and spun right and over the curb into a concrete wall. "You fool, how could you be so reckless. To spend thousands of hours of building, re-building, and tuning only to end up in the wall like a Mustang leaving a car show." As I ice my face, I look at options to rebuild, hire a shop, inspect frame damage, get a parts car etc etc. For those of you who've wrecked before, I'd be grateful for any tips on coping emotionally and possible rebuilding strategies. thanks,
