Message A word of warning about 'Mamba' products.

Hi guys,

I'm writing this in the hope it may save some fellow Z owners future misery and time wasted.

I've had to pull two engines because of these junk oil line kits.

Some of you may or may not have seen a company called Mamba or Mambatek selling stainless oil and waterline kits for the VG30 on ebay. They also sell cheap turbos, I'll start by saying i have a friend who has their GTX2863 5 bolt BB turbos and hes very happy with them, and i have no experience with their turbos, so if your interested in buying their turbos..then i can't comment on that.

They sell oil and water line kits combined and seperately, i have no problem with the water line kits, but the oil line kits for journal bearing turbos come with incorrect restrictor sizes, abysmally poorly drilled holes and block 90 degree oil fittings that have the incorrect threads.

Stock turbos are restricted properly with the OEM oil lines and i would always use them if possible.. However they are not always quickly and easily sourced in the UK if lost or damaged and most people seem to opt for the mamba kit.. I made this mistake myself last year..

When i first encountered these problems i thought i had a dud kit, but i have seen 3 of these kits now and each and every one has the wrong thread on the block 90 degree oil fitting and poor quality, incorrect sized restrictors.

I have six journal bearing turbo restrictors from mamba here with me, and all the holes vary in sizes upto 0.4mm. It would seem quality control is non existent at this company.

Twice now i have had engines smoking like a train from both sides with these restrictors fitted, once on my own vehicle. I removed the mamba restrictors and replaced with CZP Journal bearing restrictors. No more smoking!

This is a 20 dollar fix when some people would possibly go ahead and replace the whole turbos, possibly costing thousands.

If anyone reads this in future and they have a mamba kit to hand, CZP sell the parts to correct the problem for 20 USD. Product code: 15190-VP1xx-KT

I have included a link to a picture below to show the poorly drilled & over sized mamba restrictors, along with the incorrect block fitting that comes in the kit. The correct CZP block fitting is in the top left of the photo.
