Message Coming from a guy who works at a filter manufacturer, I wouldn't over analyze this. The only thing I would mention is to stay away from cheapo will-fit brands like FRAM, NAPA, WIX, etc. Just because a filter can thread on doesn't mean it was engineered and validated for the engine application. If you're using an OEM filter sold through legitimate channels, you'll be fine. The requirements of passenger car oil filters are so much less than what we see in the heavy-duty world...I've worried a lot less about oil changes since learning what I know from Cummins Filtration.
